February is icy. It chills scheduled plans and freezes all aspirations of leaving the amazing combination of blankets and mattress. One thing this season can never cool is the love you have for that special person who keeps you motivated during the day and warm at night. The conversations and insights shared during quarantine brought you two closer together. It's time to celebrate this accomplishment by trading your sweats and pajamas for trunks and swimsuits, the area rug for golden sand and the plasma screen for views unlike any other. Go and feel the sun on your skin again when you fly off to these five breath-taking tropical destinations.

The Maldives

Indian Ocean Blue is the color expanding the parameters of black travel and one you two need to see up close and the sights of it are endless in The Maldives. Blessing tourists with clear skies of the matching pastel, this dotted line of tiny islands due southwest of India and Sri Lanka comprises small villages, private resorts, secluded beaches in touch with nature. The inescapable beauty surrounding every island is for you to enjoy and take in by the glimpse. No island is the same. Malé, the capital city and most highly-populated area, is full of stores, attractions and nightlife for you to safely enjoy with the beach always within walking distance. Landaa Giraavaru is the complete opposite. Elegantly seclusive, this resort island has a sun-washed beach meant for long walks and the bluest waves perfect for deep romantic dives. Snorkeling safaris are popular, but for those wanting to fully escape it all, we suggest taking one of the seaplanes and boats to one of the desolate straits of sands with no one else around for miles. Now you can see why flights to the Maldives are always booked solid.

Bali

Flights across time zones and borders should always result in landings to places that make their eyes deny the beauty where they stand. This can be said about one of the many endless beaches circling all of Bali’s vividly illustrious coasts making it a must-see in the black travel community. You can walk hand-in-hand as waves come ashore to the pristine Sanfur Beach to the base of the stony cliffs of Jimbaran Bay Beach while the sun brightens your path. The visions of Balangan Beach and Padang Padang Beach are enough to make both of you consider relocating to these destinations of unobstructed blue sky above the Indian Ocean. Caved beaches are also some of the natural attractions you will be able to wander through at your own pace. The peak tourist season runs from December to January due to the holidays of nearby countries making late February and early March an ideal time for you to take in all the serenity unrushed or hurried by the large crowds. A perfect setting to consider when adding winter getaways to your list with so many romantic things to do in Bali.

Aruba

Life on the beach is what tourists flocking from everywhere else actively seek on this semi-arid, cacti-growing island beaming in the Caribbean Sea that remains a favorite on the black travel scene. Sunshine virtually pours from the sky on this all year long here making for endless sunbathing options at Arashi Beach, Eagle Beach, Palm Beach and other locations along the west coast and to the beautiful waves giving relief from temperatures nearing triple digits. Whether at one of the many beaches, resorts or just discovering the rich culture present in Oranjestad, the capital city in this Dutch/Papiamento-speaking country, there is so much for a wandering couple with no schedule to keep to see and do. Marine life becomes within reach once you put down your phone and become one with the wavy scenery just feet away. This kind of engagement is virtually present on every beach. Renting an ATV to four-wheel to all of these spots meant for sightseeing and underwinding is the best way to experience this island’s miles of open road out there to discover--how all romantic vacations in the Caribbean should look.

Tulum

Tulum is quickly becoming one of the top destinations for international travelers wishing to thaw the icicles from the winter they’ve been in enduring back home. Only a ninety-minute drive south from Cancun along Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula is where this slice of paradise sits amidst the palm trees and bright sand. Not having to fly an extended amount of time just to see it all is one of the reasons why many stateside travelers are opting for Tulum as one of their winter getaways of choice and a favorite in black travel. Couples are able to make footprints on the beach next to the palm trees with temples centuries-old representing the pre-colonial history of the Mayans in view--El Castillo one of the places you need to see up close. Away from the gentle, rolling surf are cantinas that line most of the streets in Tulum, perfect settings for you to randomly sit, sip, eat and talk the day away as yacht parties pass in the distance. Visiting the Mayan temples at Chichén Itzá, only a two-hour drive due west from Tulum, is a wonderful change of pace, too.

Bora Bora

One of the many views all around Bora Bora.

One of the many views all around Bora Bora.

This French Polynesian island in the South Pacific, over 2,000 miles due south of Hawaii, never ceases to amaze the couples from their window seats peering down at its bright lagoon. The pandemic has changed the nightlife that made this Bora Bora a must-visit for the partygoer, but the tamer atmosphere does make for ample space for you to roam through the streets and enjoy the beaches. Boat rides and snorkeling tours get visitors acquainted with the kaleidoscope of marine life awaiting beneath the wavy, turquoise surface. There is much to explore here for the adventurer. The unpaved roads lining the luscious green hillsides of Mount Otemanu with four-wheeled excursions spoil camera lenses with colors to add to the new memories being made. One of the best scenes for vacations in the South Pacific.

All these destinations provide great scenery for your relaxing vacation to enjoy during the cold months. If you are still trying to figure more places to travel throughout the year, please check out some of our wonderful tours
